Khairy Jamaluddin should have done improvements to the Sungai Buloh Hospital in his 12 months as the health minister, and not merely make pledges after his candidacy is announced for the seat.
So said Pakatan Harapan’s contender for the parliamentary seat, R Ramanan.
“Today, Khairy said in a video that he would carry out improvements to the Sungai Buloh Hospital. What politics is he playing? What is he lying about?
“We all know what happened at the hospital during the Covid-19 pandemic and how the frontliners suffered,” Ramanan told Malaysiakini today.
According to Ramanan, the hospital was still in a “bad condition” despite Khairy’s numerous visits there during the pandemic and endemic stages.
In the three-minute video uploaded on his Facebook today, Khairy, who is incumbent Rembau MP, said BN should “boldly” move on to provide services in the urban areas.
He also said he would bring about improvements to the Sungai Buloh Hospital if he wins the parliamentary seat in GE15.
Ramanan said voters would not be fooled by Khairy’s “sweet election promises”.
“To me, Khairy is an unprincipled person. When Najib (Abdul Razak) was the prime minister, he (Khairy) supported him (Najib), before switching his support to Dr Mahathir Mohamad.
“Khairy vehemently defended Muhyiddin Yassin when he was the prime minister and is now going around preaching that Ismail Sabri Yaakob is the best prime minister the country has seen,” said Ramanan.
“Maybe Khairy had forgotten his arrogant words, but Malaysians will not.”
Sungai Buloh has been a Harapan stronghold for three terms, beginning in 2008.
While Harapan is fielding Ramanan in place of its incumbent R Sivarasa, BN is fielding Khairy in the seat, which is traditionally MIC’s.
